How I got started in Prenatal Yoga
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me how I got into Prenatal Yoga I would be rich by now ;). It all started back when I completed my first 200 hour YTT in Bali. I found a job teaching yoga right after, and someone joined my group class and came to tell me that she was 8 months pregnant and I panicked! Read the full story below. π«ΆπΌ
Rewind to 2014 when I had just completed n first 200 hour YTT in Bali. I decided I wanted to stay in Bali for a little longer, so I knew I needed to find a job, and I figured why not look for a job teaching yoga since I was newly certified. (Lol). I ended up finding a job teaching yoga 2x a day, which was all great until I was teaching a group vinyasa class one afternoon and there were already 20+ students in the class and then a woman joined and came to tell me she was 8 months pregnant.
And I panicked.
I was so scared to teach something that might hurt her or hurt the baby. I knew I had had a workshop during my YTT on prenatal yoga but in the moment I forgot everything. π£π΅βπ«
That was the moment that I realized I wanted to learn more about prenatal & postnatal yoga to never have this feeling again. I had already fallen in love with teaching yoga, and I knew that moving forwards there were bound to be more prenatal & postnatal students joining my group classes.
So thatβs how it all began! I went on to do lots of different trainings in Prenatal & Postnatal yoga and eventually created my own school, Island Prenatal Yoga.
