How to modify a vinyasa for pregnant yoga students:

Yoga Teachers- So you’ve planned your favorite dynamic vinyasa class with plenty of vinyasas and chaturangas...only to have a pregnant student join your class!

😰 Now what?! (Cue: sweating, panicking)

#1: Don’t Panic!

We can modify the vinyasa (plank, chaturanga, upward dog, downward dog) to make it accessiable for women in all trimesters of pregnancy!

When it becomes uncomfortable (this will vary from student to student), remove plank, chaturanga, and upward dog or cobra.

Instead try:

Have students come into all 4’s instead of plank, and then choose:
1. Rock hips right & left
2. Cat/cow
3. Hip circles
4. Bird dog: option to bring the hand to the knee

These options are all safe throughout all 3 trimesters, but remind students to always listen to their body!

Try these out & let me know what you think!
